Mary Margaret Ramsey, 75

Mary Margaret Ramsey, 75, of Gilbert, Ariz. passed away on December 8, 2015 in Gilbert. Mary was born on February 25, 1940 in Monterey Park, Calif. to Helen Marie (McDowell) and Hugh Arthur Northington. Mary was united in marriage with Jack Darrell Ramsey on Oct. 7, 1961. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Mary was retired, and had most recently worked as a records clerk for the Mesa Police Department. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and known to loved ones as “Nana.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Betty, Dorothy and Virginia.

She is survived by her husband and four daughters: Theresa Ann Zimmerman, Jacqueline Sue Tafoya, (husband Fred), Janine Marie Ramsey, and Patricia Lyn Ramsey; and her eight grandsons: Matthew Scott Zimmerman, Andrew Michael Zimmerman, Adam Darrell Zimmerman, Daniel Richard Zimmerman, Astin Martin Tafoya,(wife Deandra), Joshua Sterling Tafoya, Jonathon Daryl Tafoya and Philip Alexander Tafoya; and her brother Hugh Northington.

Mary loved spending summers with her husband Darrell in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where family and friends visited often. She loved to bake and was famous for her homemade pies and Sunday breakfasts. Her interests included gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Mary was a devoted Catholic and served the Lord through volunteering; she regularly helped feed the homeless and often cleaned the churches.

Visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday evening, Dec. 15, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary, 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. followed by Words of Remembrance. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2654 E. Williams Field Rd., Gilbert, Ariz.
