PREP ROUNDUP: Burchell sparks Trojans

POST FALLS — Jason Burchell won by a 12-2 major decision at 138 pounds over Lakeland’s Tyler Siegford, sparking the Post Falls Trojans to a 57-24 dual victory over the Hawks on Thursday night at The Arena.
“Our kids came out and wrestled well,” Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. “The kids came out, hustled for everything and just outwrestled them. Jason got a big win and just got things rolling for us.”
Alius De La Rosa (152), Coleton Kazmierczak (160), Ridge Lovett (98), Mathias De La Rosa (113) and Matt McLeod (120) won by pin for Post Falls (4-0), which travels to Hermiston on Saturday.
Nathaniel Dansereau (182), Jared Walker (195) and Antonio Brown (220) had pins for Lakeland, which is at the Inland Empire Classic today and Saturday at Central Valley High.
“We had some kids out of the lineup (because they didn’t make weight),” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “I was pretty happy with how our kids wrestled and fought.”

Millsap had 14 points, Jake Pfennigs 12 points and eight rebounds for Post Falls, (3-0) which plays at Lakeland tonight at 7:30 in the Prairie Pig spirit game.
Eli Holecek scored a game-high 18 points for East Valley (1-3).

SPIRIT LAKE — The Tigers played shutdown defense against the Knights, outscoring them 27-7 in the second half to win a nonleague game.
“They had six 3s in the first half and I challenged my guys at halftime to play better defense or at least take tough, contested shots,” Timberlake coach Tony Hanna said.
Dan Smith scored 16 points for Timberlake (3-1), while Brayden Menti added 12 points.
Milo Bighead scored 14 points for Lakeside (1-4).
Timberlake plays tonight at Cheney. Lakeside visits Wallace on Monday.

“East Valley did a pretty good job defensively and we struggled a little on offense,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. “It’s more of a practice issue, which is my fault and that’s on me.”
Glory Ellison scored nine points for Post Falls (4-1), which visits Lakeland tonight in the Prairie Pig spirit game starting at 5:30 p.m.
Maddie Bastin scored 10 points and Elle Burland added eight points for East Valley.

“We’d been struggling early on and our guards really stepped up for us,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Doug Grant said.
Elizabeth Lehosit had seven points and seven rebounds, Kelly Ruebke 15 points and Emma Bartlett nine rebounds and four points for Coeur d’Alene Charter (1-3), which plays at Valley Christian on Saturday.
Charli Sadler had 11 rebounds, four steals and three assists and Samantha Stepro had seven rebounds and two steals for Mullan (0-4), which hosts Clark Fork on Tuesday.
“She played a very good all around game, even with a box-and-one defense on her,” Mullan coach Sherry Leitz said of Sadler.
