POEM: Help Wanted

| December 9, 2015 8:00 PM

Yes they’re tattered and raggy with a month’s show of dirt

Faces are taut and their eyes showing hurt

The sign that they hold with so little hope

May find them some shelter and help them to cope

They ask oh so little to sustain what they need

They’re not one of us, but a different breed

It shows in the people no matter how sad

Some place in their life has treated them bad

We could say they are lazy and just born to lose

But I would not judge them, I don’t walk in their shoes

My fortune in life I’m sure has been more

So I slip them a dollar to even the score

Who knows what might happen for after a while

A gift may just change to a different lifestyle

Know not what their motive, down deep in their heart

But I go away feeling that I’ve done my part
