PREP WRESTLING: Trojans open season by winning tourney
SIDNEY, Mont. — The defending Idaho state 5A champion Post Falls Trojans might have graduated a few kids, but they didn’t skip a beat in the opening weekend, finishing with five individual champions to run away with the team championship at the Sidney Invitational on Saturday.
“It was an awesome weekend after winning the dual meet competiton on Friday,” Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. “It was a good weekend. The kids really competed well for the first weekend. The guys just came out guns a’blazing and got after it.”
Ridge Lovett (98 pounds), Braydon Huber (126), TJ Wolf (138), Alius De La Rosa (145) and Brad Noesen (205) went unbeaten in the bracket rounds on Saturday to aid the Trojans, who won the tournament by 86 points over Lake Stevens (Wash.).
Post Falls hosts Lakeland on Thursday.

Buck’s Bags tourney
BOISE — Senior Dylan Lockwood finished the weekend with a 6-0 record, including wins over defending state champions from Idaho and Nevada, helping the Vikings finish 10th out of 32 teams in the Buck’s Bags duals tournament at Capital High.
“We got better as the tournament went on,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We had the luxury of getting two starters back in the lineup today (Mario Peregrina and Vince Rey), but those guys that filled in for them, as well as the younger guys, it was a valuable learning experience for them.”
Lockwood beat Sammy Eckhart, the defending 3A champion from Fruitland, as well as Andrew Cox of Battle Mountain (Nev.) 2-1.
“Dylan had a great, great weekend,” Moffat said. “He wrestling really well and had a couple of really tough matches.”
Kaleb Maciosek went 4-2 in the tournament at 113 pounds for Coeur d’Alene, which hosts Bonners Ferry and East Valley on Monday at Coeur d’Alene High.
