“Those two guys have some experience and played great,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “For a first game, I was really happy with our team effort. We moved the ball really well for the first game of the season. I was happy with our defensive pressure and we really wore North Central down.”

Zach Hillman had 11 points and seven rebounds and Blake McLean had seven points and four assists for Post Falls (1-0), which forced 11 turnovers in the game. The Trojans face West Valley tonight at 8.

“We’re young and don’t have a lot of guys with varsity experience,” Coeur d’Alene coach Kurt Lundblad said. “Central Valley just played really well and shot the ball well and took advantage of some of our breakdowns on defense. I thought our kids played hard, but didn’t play smart at times and played a little selfish at times, and it hurt us in the third. But we love playing quality opponents and we’re going to get better from this.”
