Allan Hamilton McManus, 81, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, after a long bout with cancer.
Allan was born June 16, 1934 in Skowhegan, Maine, to Hamilton and Ellie McManus.
Al graduated from Dexter High School and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, as a Master Mechanic. After serving, he moved to Southern California where he married Carol Mattics and started a family with three children: Ronda, Richard and Robin. While there he owned three Chevron service stations over a 20-year period.
Al then moved to Hauser Lake, Idaho, where he owned and ran Curley’s Bar. He met and had a relationship with Joyce Rowley. Al loved her and her two daughters (Cheri and Arlene) dearly. Al then built and owned MY Garage Auto Repair in Hauser Lake where he met and married Donna Jo Painter, who had two sons, David and Lee.
Allan’s generosity had no boundaries. He helped many people and was always there to lend a helping hand. His life was filled with adventure that was enjoyed by friends and family. Al was a friend to many and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Donald, Bobby and Loretta and his second wife, Donna Jo McManus. Al is survived by his sister, Alyce Gregory Gentry; children Ronda Frazee, Richard McManus, Robin Hunt, Cheri Williams, Arlene Britton, David Fox and Lee Fox; 14 grandkids and two great-grandkids.
