Recent reports from Kootenai County law enforcement agencies

POST FALLS POLICE

Saturday

• Someone broke into a Post Falls business Saturday morning and stole $100. According to employees, there may be inside surveillance for detectives to review.

• A resident of Post Falls reported that someone broke into his car and took two folding Buck knives. In addition to the theft, the owner also discovered that the suspect may have poured sand into their gas tank.

• A Post Falls woman contacted the police department several times asking for help with straightening her life out and getting away from a man she feels is interfering with her chance to live a happy life. The woman had a long conversation with the sergeant on duty and thanked him for listening.

• Police responded to the home of a Post Falls family that said their 2-year-old daughter was missing and was last seen in the basement. The girl was found in a neighbor’s house and had used the doggy door to get in.

• A traffic stop resulted in the seizure of eight grams of marijuana.

Sunday

• A Post Falls woman told police that her boyfriend stole her fish tank and personal computer. The boyfriend allegedly admitted to stealing the items via a text to the girlfriend.

• A suspect fled from a business before police could respond to reports that she had stolen a cell phone and hair dye.

• Dispatchers took a call from a resident who reported a possible DUI. The driver was located, failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody.

• An officer saw a silver Acura traveling in front of him swerving and crossing over both the fog line and lane divider line. The driver narrowly missed hitting the guard rails and barriers several times. A pursuit ensued and the vehicle was finally stopped. The driver was arrested for felony eluding and DUI.

Monday

• Officers responded to an establishment where it was reported that an intoxicated man was acting strange and possibly had a weapon. The man was contacted by police and had a large folding knife on him. Police arrested the man for an Agent’s Warrant.

• An auto burglary was reported at Falls Park, with a woman telling police that her purse was taken from her unlocked vehicle.

• Post Falls police assisted Kootenai County on a welfare check. Callers stated that there was a pontoon style fishing boat in the water near the Avista Dam, close to the safety line. The boater ended up being able to paddle back to the boat ramp without incident.

COEUR d’ALENE POLICE

Friday

• A Coeur d’Alene woman reported that someone stole cash and sunglasses from her car. When contacted by officers, the woman told police that she had parked her vehicle in front of her home and locked it Thursday night. However, when her boyfriend entered the car Friday morning he left it unlocked.

• Police responded to a report that a woman’s vehicles were ransacked Thursday night. The woman told officers that the only thing she noticed missing was a cell phone charger and she also thought the hood of her smaller car had been opened.

• A Coeur d’Alene man reported that someone stole multiple items from his unlocked truck. He told officers that the items were worth a total of $630.

Saturday

• Police responded to a Coeur d’Alene home where a man told them that someone stole a Suzuki 450 from the trailer parked on the driveway. The vehicle weighs between 400 and 600 pounds, which led the officer to believe that multiple individuals were involved in the theft.

Sunday

• A Coeur d’Alene man told police that someone entered his garage and stole a knife from his truck.

• Someone smashed the back window of a Coeur d’Alene woman’s home. The woman told police that she noticed several items missing, including jewelry and a television.

• Police responded to a call from a Coeur d’Alene woman who told them that someone stole a cup of Chuck E Cheese tokens and a bottle of prescription pills from her car while it was parked in a parking lot.
