St. Maries

cancels season

ST. MARIES — Due to a shortage of players, the Lumberjacks met Friday and opted to cancel the remainder of their season.

St. Maries started the season with 14 players. Some quit, and the Lumberjacks played one game with the minimum 11 players. In another, they played one player short in the first half and two in the second half.

“We just can’t do that; the risk is too great,” St. Maries coach Paul Ebert said. “It’s hard; we’re devastated.”

St. Maries (0-5, 0-4 Intermountain League) was scheduled to play at Timberlake on Saturday.
