Lakeland, Lake City boys play scoreless tie

COEUR d'ALENE - Lakeland's Kade Coffey recorded eight saves, Lake City's Tanner Horton had six, and the Hawks and Timberwolves played to a scoreless tie in nonleague play Thursday at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

"We hit the bar a few times, but couldn't put anything away," Lake City coach Chad Beadell said. "It's still early in the season, but we will get there. We put them under pressure at the end, but Lakeland was prepared and played well."

Lake City (0-1-1) plays at Sandpoint next Friday. Lakeland (1-0-1) plays at Moscow on Monday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Adam Borshiem had three goals and four assists, and Adam Garman also scored a hat trick for the host Vikings in the nonleague game.

Gunnar Skindlov and Sean Palmer each scored their first varsity goals for Coeur d'Alene (1-0-1), and Sam Billingslea notched his first varsity assist.

"It was nice to see the young guys step up," Viking coach Jeff Lake said.

Coeur d'Alene travels to Post Falls on Monday.
