NightHawk, VA Med Center collaborate

A collaboration between Coeur d'Alene-based NightHawk Radiology and the Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center is expected to benefit area veterans and their families.

"It was cost feasible for them to expand their ER," said Tim Hogan, senior account manager for NightHawk Radiology.

In September, the Spokane VA Medical Center expanded its radiology department to include Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

When NightHawk originally partnered with the SVAMC in 2007, the veteran's hospital had closed the doors of both its emergency department and urgent care facility.

Initially, the VA hospital had utilized NightHawk for its preliminary read services. The cost savings the hospital realized allowed SVAMC to expand to the secondary and more thorough final reads, and ultimately the MRI services currently offered.

"It's kind of a nice example of how nurturing this relationship has grown the business for both of us," said Scott Giordanella director of marketing at NightHawk.
