MOEN: Just what Cd’A needs

Print Article

Lacey Moen — we need to get this young woman on City Council. As I watched Coeur d’Alene’s candidate forum, I realized that all the other candidates fell into one of two categories. First, the establishment (Gookin, English and Wood) want you to vote for them because they have experience. Second, the newcomers who want you to vote for them because they are just like you; “grassroots and middle class,” have little experience, but promise to learn quickly. The only new idea presented was Lacey’s idea for a City App to keep everyone informed about what is going on in Coeur d’Alene.

This idea is important. I have participated in CDA 2030, the Spokane River Corridor, the Atlas Mill Site, Envision Coeur d’Alene and more, and the most common complaint from citizens is “I didn’t know about that.” How many times have you attended a fun event put on by either a business or nonprofit (Junk to Funk is a blast) and when you told your friends they say, “How do you find out about things like that?”

I am old and know that Apps are for young people (I read the newspaper) but we need to integrate young people and ideas into our “representative” government. Lacey has shown she is responsible — in her business and community life. She will represent a generation that is the future of our city. She is well-spoken, thoughtful and sees the city’s problems as opportunities.

Bring some positive energy to City Council. Elect Lacey Moen.
