BUDGET: Who has your back?

Print Article

Commissioner Lesli Duncan’s No vote on the 2020 Budget tells me that she is looking out for the people of Kootenai County. Commissioner Chris Fillios (District 2) and Commissioner Bill Brooks (District 1) approved the 2020 Budget and with that a 3% property tax increase.

Kootenai County’s population has been growing over the last few years and more homes and apartments have been popping up all over the county. The revenue from the recent population growth ought to be covering pay raises and increased services for Kootenai County.

Rising home prices have already dimmed the dreams of many to own a home: A 3% property tax increase will put that dream even further out.

Remember at the next election who has your back and who has not.
