DRIVERS: Summertime blues

Print Article

Summer drivers come shooting out of the City Hall parking lot, flying past my children and me like a bat out of the fiery depths. Put a stop sign on Young Avenue and stop them from launching through downtown without the police seeing them.

Summer concerts? Well those are just drunk people skirting the law on Sherman at full speed ahead on Young Avenue. Saturday afternoons? Seems like a good place to test your newly awful muffler that sounds like a train wreck.

I invite anyone with a speed gun to sit at my corner. I’ll bring you a chair and we can quantify the danger of this street. Hey city of Coeur d’Alene — you want locals to live in Sanders Beach year-round? Keep us safe with a stop sign and we won’t have to rent our houses to the tourists.
