Here I am again, with only a minor in economics, wondering how our economy keeps producing all of those hundreds of thousands of new jobs. I’ve been having a hard time hiring any new employees, even though I pay a living wage, with benefits.
Wait a minute — I just found out: When a poor, struggling, minimum wage worker gets a second or third job (just to get by), he or she is counted as a new employed worker. Honest!
If people just didn’t need to sleep, we could get those numbers even higher.
Think about it. Obama inherited a 10 percent unemployment rate from Bush and brought it down to 4 percent. President Trump now brags about reducing the unemployment rate from 4 percent … waaaaaaay down to 3.6 percent.
