Nampa Councilwoman Sandi Levi has been serving the community on the City Council since 2015.

In the last several years, she has stood up for several issues, but recently she partnered with David’s Hope Pregnancy Loss Ministry, Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel and Kohlerlawn Cemetery to install a memorial at the cemetery for children lost to miscarriages or stillbirths. The monument reads, “Though we never held you in our arms we carry you always in our hearts — because your life has forever changed our world.”

Levi, who lost a child to miscarriage about 20 years ago and almost died because of it, said the memorial acts as a place of reflection for the parents away from the other graves. The monument is there temporarily as the cemetery works on a larger garden for patrons to scatter the cremains of their deceased loved ones of any age.

The temporary monument was brainstormed and installed all within about two months. Levi said the amount of support behind the monument was more than she ever expected. She thought it would take years to get the monument in place.
