Steve DeFord, 72
Steve Glen DeFord, 72, went to be with God on May 7, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born July 6, 1951, in Glendale, Calif., to Pearlie Lee (Roberts) DeFord and Glen Roger DeFord.
Steve served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After many years in the Retail Clerks Union, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in human development and worked for and retired from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 2015 to be closer to family. He loved camping, boating, water skiing, working in the yard, reading about history, riding his Harley Davidson, playing golf, World of Warcraft, target shooting and metal detecting.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Bryan Austin Williams and Jesse Ryan Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Elise Robicheau (Thomas) of Spokane, Wash.; son Jeffrey Steven DeFord of Palmetto, Fla.; grandchildren Amber Nicole Williams, Samantha Danielle Lehman (Sloan), Ryan Austin Bickle and Austin Jeffrey DeFord; his faithful loving dog, Levi; and sister Jeanne Benedict (Rick) of California.
Steve will be remembered most for his great sense of humor, offering good advice and unexpected acts of generosity and kindness.
