VETERANS PRESS: Welcome to women veterans health care

| April 30, 2024 1:00 AM

We're glad you are here! Use this site to find the available health services and resources you have earned as a woman veteran.

Our primary care and comprehensive women's health services include:

• General health care and wellness checks, including routine screenings

• Women-specific care for reproductive health (including birth control) and menopause

• Management of long-term conditions, like heart disease and diabetes

• Pain management and care related to musculoskeletal injuries

• Mental health services including medications, counseling and referrals

• Treatment for conditions related to military sexual trauma

VA also provides specialty services, such as:

• Gynecologic and fertility treatment

• Sensory aids and prosthetics, including gender-specific items like post-mastectomy needs

• Other specialties including radiology, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, rheumatology, oncology and endocrinology

Are you using all the health benefits you have earned?

Only 44% of women veterans are enrolled in VA health care. To learn more about the health benefits that you have earned and deserve, sign up for these training sessions through the VA Women's Health Reengagement Training: https://www.va.gov/outreach-and-events/events/46939/

A majority of women veterans are not utilizing their earned benefits. As a result, they do not have access to the VA health care system or the low- or cost-free care it offers.

It's never too late to enroll in VA health care services: https://www.va.gov/files/2023-01/women-veterans-qsg.pdf

What is my next step? Go to one of the Regional VA Health Care Services and locations listed in todays’ Veterans Press or refer to the “North Idaho Resource Directory” and contact one of the Veterans Service Centers.
