POST FALLS — Police arrested a Spokane Valley man Tuesday morning who allegedly stole from a Post Falls business, according to a news release issued by the Post Falls Police Department.

Lance Virgil, 49, was arrested and charged with burglary and resisting arrest.

Around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, Post Falls police responded to a reported burglary at a business in the 3900 block of Poleline Avenue. The suspect, later identified by police as Virgil, allegedly broke a window, entered the business, stole items and fled the scene, leaving behind drugs and paraphernalia.

Police responded to the area of Painters Loop and Cecil Road around 9 a.m. for a report of a man unlawfully entering a truck. The suspect allegedly fled on foot before police arrived. Officers reportedly used photos of the suspect to identify him as Virgil.

After establishing a perimeter and using a Post Falls Police Department drone, police located Virgil in the 3000 block of East 16th Avenue.

“Information at the time led officers to believe the suspect was armed with an edged weapon,” a news release said.

Virgil allegedly “refused commands to surrender” and was arrested with “assistance from a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office K-9,” police said. He was transported to Kootenai Health for treatment of his injuries, then booked into the Kootenai County jail.

More charges may be filed, police said.
