Former Washington State center Bella Murekatete, who starred at Genesis Prep Academy in Post Falls, was one of seven players waived by the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury on Saturday.

Murekatete played a total of 26 minutes in two preseason games for the Mercury, totaling six points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.

Former Lake City High and Washington State star Kyle Manzardo, who made his major league debut with the Cleveland Guardians on Monday, went 1 for 3 with his first big league double in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday in Chicago.

Manzardo is hitting .176 (3 for 17) for Cleveland.
