Russell, a senior, set a meet record in boys 800-meter run, finishing in 1 minute, 54.64 seconds at the District 1 All-Star Meet at Post Falls High on Thursday. The previous mark was held by John Coyle (1:57.33). Russell also won the 1,600 in 4:22.19. “He put in a great winter training block, has stayed healthy and injury free and is super coachable,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Gordon Smith said. “He’s really good at communicating to me about how his body is reacting to the training.”
