Small cars, big cars, semi trucks and more
The Northwest Big Rigs are coming back to the Findlay Stadium Stateline Speedway Friday. The semis will race for the main event, followed by a firework show.

POST FALLS — Findlay Stadium Stateline Speedway will be packed with lightweights, heavyweights, bouncing, bumping and bashing all weekend, starting with V-6 races, moving to big rig races, complete with a fireworks show, followed by a Father Fest, and ending with a circus. Daily events are Friday through Sunday at the stadium, 1349 N. Beck Road, Post Falls.
Today
To open the weekend, V-8s will fight for the front in a Bump to Pass class with an accompanying V-6 claimer race. Both set up the main event, North American Big Rigs, with the first heat starting at 6 p.m. today. The V-6 claimers race is a bit like a moving sale, where the nearly stock cars are available for spectators to buy. The lightly tuned cars are designed for people to enter the racing world, with prices starting as low as $1,500.
“It’s meant to bring back affordable racing, because racing’s too expensive,” operations manager Matt Alexander said. “It’s gotten out of control.”
The bump to pass is a few hits shy of a demo derby, with heavy V-8 cars bumping and nudging their way to the front of the pack.
Friday night’s main event will be the return of the North American Big Rig racing competition followed by a fireworks show. Large, loud and rowdy big rigs will race to place before explosions fill the sky to celebrate.
This is the first year the semi trucks will return to Findlay Stadium, with the lifting of COVID restrictions in Canada, from where the trucks travel.
Earplugs are available in the gift shop for anyone who forgets to bring their own.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $28 online or $2 more at the door. Tickets for kids 6-11 start at $21.
Saturday
The third annual Father Fest, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., is an anticipated event for the season, and not just because it’s free. Post COVID-19, the semi trucks weren’t able to travel to the state, so Father Fest started to fill the space. It’s been such a wild success that now the stadium holds both the big rig races and the free festival.
The fest will feature a burnout competition, professional wrestlers, bounce houses, a beer garden, a car show and an arcade.
Father Fest is full of family-friendly guy stuff, so it’s always a packed house and a fun time for attendees.
Sunday
The Shrine Circus will have two shows, each starting at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.
In true racing spirit, motorcyclists will do stunts in a globe of death. While no one should die, the motorcyclists will ride loops inside a small metal globe.
Clowns, jugglers, acrobats, animals and other family-friendly features will fill the lineup for each show.
