HAYDEN — A Hayden home was destroyed in a fire Wednesday night.

A couple with a baby who lived there were not home at the time of the, but arrived shortly after it began. There were no injuries.

Firefighters with the Northern Lakes Fire District and the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department responded to the fire about 10:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Midtown Lane.

The first battalion chief on scene requested a second alarm be dispatched due to the heavy fire involvement of the single-family trailer-style home.

Firefighters knocked down the flames within a few minutes. Units cleared the scene about 1:10 a.m.

In total, there were 17 responders on the scene.

Northern Lakes Fire District Chief Pat Riley noted there was also a fire in Coeur d'Alene at the same time.

"I am very proud of our fire crews as well as all fire crews, law enforcement, and especially dispatchers," he said. "However, handling one of these incidents, let alone two at the same time, is extremely difficult and a potential safety concern for responders and the public."

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Riley said it may have been an electrical problem.
