Body found in lake near abandoned boat

Sheriff's deputies responded early Sunday morning to an apparent drowning in Lake Coeur d’ Alene.

According to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office press release, at about 7:20 a.m. Sunday, patrol and marine deputies checked out an unoccupied boat that had floated up to a dock in Rockford Bay. An employee of a nearby marina said they had located a man's body submerged next to a dock.

Deputies confirmed the man was deceased. His identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

According to the press release, detectives and the coroner are helping boat crash investigators, but no other information was available late Sunday afternoon.
