COEUR d'ALENE - A 66-year-old Kellogg pharmacist was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to three years of probation for wire fraud and ordered to pay $75,594 in restitution to his employer.

Steven Milot, who was employed at Osburn Drug in Kellogg, was recorded misappropriating controlled substances in 2012 and pleaded guilty to the charges in August 2013.

When Idaho State Police executed a warrant at Milot's residence, they found large quantities of various controlled substances not prescribed to him. In court, Milot admitted to misappropriating controlled substances for three to four years and said he personally used all of the substances he took.

An audit of the pills revealed that 1,817 Oxycodone IR 5-milligram tablets, 6,098 OxyContin 40-milligram tablets, 580 60-milligram OxyContin tablets, and 2,356 OxyContin 80-milligram tablets were missing from the pharmacy.

Milot ordered the controlled substances using wire transmissions in an effort to avoid detection.
