Charter rummage sale is today

A rummage sale is scheduled 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to help eighth-graders at Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy with expenses to travel to the nation's capital over spring break.

The fundraiser will feature plenty of items, from furniture to arts and crafts to clothing and electronics.

It is at the academy, 4904 N. Duncan Drive.

Police searching for missing man

Coeur d'Alene police are looking for a missing adult.

Stephen Michael Damiano was reported missing Tuesday evening by Intercept, a private placement agency. The manager of Intercept told police Damiano was dropped off at 2 p.m. to do volunteer work at the Altar Church at Eighth and Best.

The church pastor said Damiano never arrived inside the church.

Stephen's parents live in Pennsylvania and have extended custody over him.

"They are concerned for his safety due to some depression issues and suicidal tendencies," according to a press release.

Damiano has been known to ride the Citylink bus, hang out at the Coeur d'Alene Casino and frequent homeless shelters.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Coeur d'Alene Police at 769-2320.

ICA sponsoring Alzheimer's workshops

The number of Idahoans with Alzheimer's disease could fill Boise State's Bronco Stadium.

And that number is expected to double in 14 years.

Most persons with Alzheimer's disease are cared for by informal or family caregivers who perform a variety of important tasks - bathing, cooking, administering medications and monitoring symptoms. Over time, these responsibilities can become overwhelming and exhausting, and can even compromise the caregiver's health.

To help those givers enhance their training, The Idaho Commission on Aging is sponsoring free online Building Better Caregivers workshops through 2012.
