Edward Jones Financial Advisor is hosting a seminar called "Rules of the Road" at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 609 Calgary Court, suite 5, in Post Falls.

"In about 60 minutes, I will provide those who attend with 10 steps to follow when investing before and during retirement," Durbin said. "Whether your dream is to live comfortably in retirement or to send your kids to college, this seminar can show you that those dreams can become reality if you follow the rules of the road."

Idaho to receive part of pharmaceutical settlement

Idaho will receive more than $980,000 as part of a $72.5 million settlement with Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. and Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Inc.

The agreement with Novartis resolves allegations that the company promote the use of a cystic fibrosis drug called tobramycin, which is marketed under the trade name TOBI, for uses not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

The settlement also resolves claims brought by three former employees of Chiron Corp., the company that manufactured and marketed TOBI before it was acquired by Novartis in 2006.

Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden's office joined with 49 states, the District of Columbia, and the federal government in the settlement.

Department of Labor offers labor law posters, for free

Again, Idaho businesses are being solicited by private companies to pay for required labor law posters that the Idaho Department of Labor provides free online.

Businesses in southwestern Idaho began receiving notices in the mail this week from Idaho Labor Law Poster Service, 10400 Overland Road, No. 229, Boise, advising them that labor law notices are frequently amended and existing posters might be out of date and can be replaced for a charge of $57.25.

But there have been no changes to existing labor law posters, and any businesses needing the posters can download them free from the Idaho Department of Labor website.

This same company, Idaho Labor Law Poster Service, made a similar solicitation of Idaho businesses in 2009.

If you have a new, relocated or expanded business, or announcement of events, promotions or awards, The Press wants to let our readers know. The service is free and items run Tuesday through Saturday. To get the word on the street on your movers and shakers, call city editor Bill Buley at 664-8176 Ext. 2016 or e-mail bbuley@cdapress.com.
