Do the 'who's who' got game?
The Post Falls Kiwanis have the perfect solution to waiting for the election results to come in next Tuesday night ... the Harlem Ambassadors playing an exhibition game against the Kiwanis Classics at Post Falls High School.
The professionals on the Harlem team will no doubt put on a great show for the crowds but I'm thinking that seeing some of the Kiwanis players on the court will be worth the price of admission. There's NIC's Athletic Director Al Williams, Chief of Police Scot Haug, White House Grill owner Raci Erden, Superintendent of Schools Jerry Keane, councilman Ron Jacobson and city administrator Eric Keck, Boys and Girls Club Director Ryan Davis and banker Jerry Lyon and several other local luminaries.
The Kiwanis Club is dedicating half of the proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club, with the remainder providing local scholarships and winter hats and gloves. It's all good. Call 777-8937 for info or get tickets at Community 1st Bank, INB, Panhandle State Bank or bankCDA.
On Friday night I was out at the fairgrounds for the Curse of Pirates Island, although I didn't go through the haunted adventure. Had a visit with Dave and Sue Nussear, Chris and Dave Holloway and Laura and Dave Umthun, who were all taking in the sights.
The "director" of the production, Rick Souza, was bustling around wearing a great big grin. I met several of the cast members from Lakeland High School and Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy, who were a delight ... Michaela Allen, Zina Mack, Elizabeth Stadley, Elizabeth Gleixner, Alyssa Kimm ... and doing a respectable Captain Jack Sparrow turn was the handsome Cameron Crandall.
Note that the Post Falls Lions Haunted House, Curse of Pirates Island and Scarywood are all open through Halloween!
Heard tell that some of my favorite men in uniform from the Marine Corps League, Pappy Boyington Detachment, have been taking ballroom dance lessons in preparation for this year's gala public Marine Corps Ball on Nov. 10 at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.
When Dee Jamison turned 60 earlier this month, family and friends conspired to surprise him with a party, and surprise him they did.
Dee's daughter, Jackie, tells me that her dad was told they were attending a surprise party at the Eagles for Christina Hatfield. Jackie, her brother, John, and mom Susie were joined by a couple hundred of Dee's closest friends for the festivities. Note to Dee: Christina's birthday is in July!
Today is Tracie Olin Smith's birthday and also Jenni Gibson's. Jenni's husband Bill and grandson, Aidyn Dugger, had their shared birthday yesterday. Tyler Englebrecht can celebrate his fifth birthday by trick or treating on Saturday. Krysta Huft, PFHS Homecoming Queen, turns 18 on Halloween. Mike Miller's birthday is Sunday and Hara Allison and Patti Morris Harris can celebrate their Tuesday birthdays by voting!
A sincere thank you to those in our communities who have put their names on the ballot and are willing to serve. Please do your part by voting on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
