Julia Elsie Renner, 89

Julia Elsie (Neuman) Renner, 89, passed away April 13, 2008, at LaCrosse Health and Rehabilitation Center in Coeur d’Alene after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Dollie (Slayton) and Oscar F. Neuman. She was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Harrison.

The family moved to Spokane in 1936, where Julia graduated from North Central High School. She attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing at WSU, Gonzaga University and the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dental Hygiene. She taught dental hygiene at Eastern Washington University and worked in Dr. Tom Gardner’s office for many years.

She was a member of the Spokane, and American Dental Assistants Association; University of Missouri Alumni Association; Alpha Gamma and AMM Chapters of Sigma Phi Alpha (a dental hygiene honor society); Ladies Auxiliary of FOE (victory), Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority; Coeur d’Alene Ladies 9 Hole Golf, and Ponderosa Golf Club.

Julia is survived by her sisters-in-law, Betty Neuman of Hayden, and Henrietta Neuman of Florence, Ore.; six nephews: Pat Neuman of Coeur d’Alene, Mick Neuman of Redding, Calif.; Kevin Neuman of Spokane, Scott Neuman of Coeur d’Alene, Jim Neuman of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Bill Neuman of Lebanon, Pa.; niece, Judi Turk of Omak, Wash.; many great-nieces and nephews; and pet of her life “Pinky” the cat.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Renner; her parents; brothers: Roswell, Marion and Hugh.

At Julia’s request no services will be held. Upon her request her body was donated to medical science.¬Ý
