Aline G. Khalil, 60

Aline G. Khalil, 60, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, after long-term complications from a lifetime of diabetes.

She was born to Earl and Eleanor Watkins in 1948 in San Francisco and is survived by her sister, Jean Medlock and husband Russ; brother, Phillip Watkins and wife Barbara; daughter, April Murrell and son-in-law Donnie; son, Geoffrey and Fiancee Norabelle; former husband, Gilbert Khalil; and her loving grandchildren: Jack, Aleighsha, Scyon and McKayla.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl; mother, Eleanor; sister, Lorraine; daughter, Jennifer; father-in-law, Roberta and mother-in-law, Yolanda Khalil.

A fourth-generation San Franciscan, Aline graduated from St. John’s Ursuline High School in San Francisco, and attended the University of San Francisco. Aline then married Gilbert Khalil in 1968. She worked at Blue Cross and Levi Strauss & Company in San Francisco, but was most proud of raising her two children. A devout Catholic, Aline attended church regularly and was a testament to her faith by her service. In her own words, “No matter what I am doing in life, I serve.” And serve she did. She was a volunteer CCD teacher for more than 15 years, ministered Holy Communion to those unable to attend church, and graced anyone she met with her devoted service to God. Aline lived most of her life in the San Francisco Bay Area, eventually moving with her family to Lake Oswego, Ore., and finally to Coeur d’Alene.

Those who loved her will remember her beautiful smile, her loving blue eyes, and her favorite saying: “Happy trails to you ’ΔΆ”

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at St. Pius X Parish, 625 E. Haycraft, Coeur d’Alene. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to Hospice of North Idaho, Inc. 9493 Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
