PREP SOFTBALL: Davenport, Bridge fuel Coeur d’Alene’s sweep of Lake City
COEUR d’ALENE — A pair of freshmen came up big as the Coeur d’Alene Vikings swept the Lake City Timberwolves 8-1 and 5-1 in Inland Empire League softball Tuesday at Lake City to remain tied for first place in the league.
Jenna Davenport pitched a pair of complete games for Coeur d’Alene, striking out 12 in the opener and nine in the nightcap.
“She pitched phenomenal,” Coeur d’Alene coach Bobbi Darretta said. “She’s been working hard at figuring out her mechanics, and she pitched fantastic. I’m getting to the point where if one pitcher is doing well, leave them in until they start to burn out.”
