Oregon author luncheon set for May 2

| April 19, 2024 1:00 AM

Oregon-based author Eileen Garvin will make an appearance in Coeur d'Alene at noon May 2 during a luncheon at Vine and Olive Eatery and Wine Bar.

The best-selling writer will release a new book, "Crow Talk," on April 30. It's a story of hope, healing and unexpected friendship that channels the same heart and nature writing readers enjoyed in her debut novel, "The Music of Bees."

"Crow Talk" centers on two women and a lonely little boy who have all retreated to a remote alpine lake in the woods of Washington to seek solace. There’s Frankie O’Neill, a promising young ornithologist who is still reeling from a rift with her mentor. Just down the bay is Anne Ryan, a talented Irish musician who is grappling with the sudden muteness of her only child and the conflict it has brought to her marriage. And finally, there’s Anne’s son, Aiden, a curious 5-year-old who’s retreated into silence for reasons only he understands. A chance encounter with an injured baby crow brings this trio together and an unlikely friendship blooms, allowing all three to forge a path toward healing, rediscovery and joy.
